Now that we’re saying bye-bye to the second and final bye week for this season, our Wolverines are playing on the road this Saturday at Northwestern. Since 2021, the winner of this game is awarded the George Jewett trophy, in honour of the acclaimed Black student-athlete who binds the two universities. Not only was Jewett the first black football player at Michigan, he later went to medical school at Northwestern. So the trophy depicts Jewett in both his football uniform and his medical lab coat…
This week’s watch will be held solely at Duffy’s Boynton West, in honour of our friend Norman Briggs who passed away last week. Norm is the reason we held watch parties at this particular Duffy’s for years, as this Ann Arbor native started his own watch party at his favourite sports bar and encouraged us to join him...
You might remember Norm as the older gentleman who usually had his face painted blue on game days in honour of our Wolverines. One of his friends Tony has reserved the back room for Norm’s friends and family and all us Michigan football fans. As always, Duffy’s features an all-day two-for-one Happy Hour and a special football-season menu, so come join us both to bid Norm adieu and to root on our team…
