Michigan Black Summit 2026

The Michigan Black Summit returns February 6-th 7, 2026, at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center in Benton Harbor, Michigan — bringing together leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, advocates, and community voices from across the state.

This year’s theme, “The Fierce Urgency of Now,” echoes Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s timeless call to action — reminding us that progress cannot wait, and justice cannot be delayed. It is a charge to move with boldness, unity, and purpose as we address the challenges and opportunities facing Black communities across Michigan.

The Michigan Black Summit is one of the state’s largest gatherings focused on empowerment, equity, and community transformation. Over two dynamic days, participants will engage in panel discussions, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities designed to spark collaboration and drive impact.

The event culminates with the Michigan Black Summit Gala, a night of elegance, recognition, and celebration — featuring live entertainment by Confunkshun, honoring excellence across Michigan, and continuing the spirit of progress and pride rooted in our history.

1. Black Education
Championing educational excellence, equity, and access — from early childhood to higher education. We’ll explore strategies to close achievement gaps, support Black educators, and build stronger school-to-career pipelines.

2. Black Healthcare
Improving access to quality care and addressing disparities that affect Black communities. From mental health and chronic disease to maternal health and wellness, we focus on healing and strengthening our people from within.

3. Black Economic Development
Building wealth, ownership, and opportunity through entrepreneurship, workforce development, and innovation. This pillar connects business leaders, investors, and policymakers to accelerate economic growth across Michigan’s Black communities.
