Gabriel Dumont Local 11 is proud to present the Michif Language Initiative: Who are the Michif?
Kishinaahamasho la laang di Michif!
There are five sessions in this Michif history series presented by Michif speaker Brousse Flammand and special guests. These sessions will be offered in-person and through zoom on Thursdays from 6:00 pm. to 7:30 pm. (CST) at the St. George's Senior Citizen Club on 1235 20th St. West in Saskatoon, SK.
The dates and sessions are as follows:
Oct. 6 The Genesis of the Michif Nation
Oct. 13 The Underground Years 1885 - 1960
Oct. 20 Michif vs. Métis/Michif Aboriginal Title
Oct. 27 Neo-colonialism
Nov. 3. Moving Forward
We invite Gabriel Dumont Local members, educators, organizations and communities to register to attend these sessions. There will be a Q & A following the one-hour presentations.
Who are the Michif? sessions provide the historical context leading up to the Beginner & Advanced Michif Language classes.
Registration is required for both in-person and zoom sessions.
Beginner Michif classes - Sun., Oct. 16, 2022 - 1:00 pm. to 3:00 pm for 8 weeks - ending Dec. 4/22
Beginner Advanced Michif classes - Thurs., Jan. 5/23 - 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm for 8 weeks - ending Feb. 23/23
These sessions will provide weekly opportunities to practice with facilitators and other participants in sessions called Kitchen Table Visits. Dates and times to be confirmed.
We will also be offering two full immersion days and two immersion weekend camps for participants from both Beginner Michif sessions. Two pre-immersion classes will be required prior to attending the immersion days.

Gabriel Dumont Local 11 is proud to present our Michif Language Initiative Programming for you and your families. There will be many opportunities for all ages to support you in your cultural and language development.
To begin, we are hosting a series of talks presented by Michif speaker Brousse Flammand titled
Who are the Michif? These will be offered in-person and zoom on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at St. George’s Senior Citizen Center at 1235 20th Street W. (corner of Avenue M and 20th St W).

We encourage all members, educators, organizations, and communities to take advantage of these history modules. There will be a question period after each presentation.
Beginner Michif classes will start on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. for 8 weeks ending December 4, 2022. These will be offered in-person at a location to be announced. Zoom will also be available.
Beginner Advanced Michif classes start Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. for 8 weeks ending February 23, 2023. Also in-person and zoom.
