Miami Fiber Triennial 2026 Artist talk: Weaving Together old and new media

Join us for an Artist Talk by Emilio Vavarella, presented as part of the Miami Fiber Triennial 2026. Vavarella will explore a body of work that examines the material, conceptual, and technological implications of weaving. Focusing on three key series—The Other Shapes of Me, AAS47692, and Lifeweave—the talk reflects on how textile can function as a system to rethink identity, representation, and the relationship between nature, technology, and human experience. Through projects that translate genetic data into woven forms, Vavarella invites us to consider textile as a medium that connects bodies, data, memory, and contemporary systems of production.
