Join us for the inaugural evening of Classical Sundays, a new intimate concert series at Meyhouse Jazz. This special opening night features violinist Ava Pakiam, one of the most exciting young soloists in the country, joined by pianist Cole Anderson.Join us for a refined and immersive afternoon of chamber music as Meyhouse Classical Sundays presents violinist Ava Pakiam and pianist Cole Anderson in a thoughtfully curated recital program that travels across centuries, styles, and emotional landscapes.
Ava Pakiam is widely recognized as one of the most compelling young violinists of her generation, celebrated for her clarity of sound, expressive depth, and natural musical intelligence. In partnership with pianist Cole Anderson, whose artistry is shaped by decades of international performance and a deep connection to early 20th-century pianism, this recital highlights the violin–piano duo at its most intimate and expressive.
The program opens with the sparkling energy of Telemann’s Fantasia in D Major, moving through the expressive drama of Schumann’s Sonata No. 1, where passion and lyricism intertwine. John Adams’ Road Movies brings a distinctly American voice—rhythmic, spacious, and groove-oriented—bridging classical tradition with modern sensibility.
Following intermission, the program turns toward Romantic warmth and virtuosity: the nostalgic elegance of Tchaikovsky’s Valse Sentimentale, the lyrical charm of Suk’s Chanson d’Amour, and the fiery brilliance of Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen, a showpiece that blends folk spirit with dazzling technique.
Presented in the intimate acoustics of Meyhouse, this concert allows listeners to experience every nuance—bow pressure, breath, and phrase—creating a rare closeness between artist and audience.
