About this Event

is a celebration.

A tribute to the sounds that have shaped an entire country.

Camilo Lara’s sonic experiment arrived, and from the very first moment it was heard, it made an impact. Songs that felt fresh and catchy, yet carried the aura of a Mexico that had already faded—of cities, colors, people, flavors, and dances we never lived, but somehow feel as our own. The magic of a project like this lies in how it connects with that nostalgic part we all have.

As a key figure in Mexico’s cultural scene, Camilo Lara also uses the Mexican Institute of Sound to project a call for social justice. As he himself puts it: “The only democratic place on Earth right now is the dance floor. On a dance floor, you can be rich, poor, ugly, handsome, white, or Black—but if the music is good, it brings the community together.”

It’s not easy to summarize a 20-year career, let alone one like IMS. His work has earned him one Grammy nomination and four Latin Grammy nominations, and he has produced artists ranging from Los Ángeles Azules (achieving the best-selling Mexican album of the past 25 years, certified eight times diamond), to Lila Downs, Norah Jones, and Band of Horses. He has also remixed artists such as Beck, the Beastie Boys, Interpol, Metallica, and Joe Crepúsculo, among others.

Spanish newspaper El País named him one of the “50 most influential people in Latin America,” and Quién Magazine recognized him as one of the “50 people transforming Mexico.” Camilo Lara never stops. He currently hosts the radio show Dilo Camilo on Radio3—a journey through vibrant scenes, iconic records, and unique careers, in a constant search for musical identity.

is a neo-tropicalista group from Bogotá, Colombia, founded in 1998 by composer and multi-instrumentalist Eblis Álvarez as an experimental, cassette-based project. Since 2007, it has evolved into a full live band featuring a rotating lineup of musicians.

The group gained international recognition with their album Desesperanza (2012) and has since toured widely across Europe, the United States, and Latin America, performing at major festivals like Roskilde, Trans Musicales, and SummerStage. They have released music on respected independent labels including Soundway, Discrepant, and Bongo Joe.

Their sound blends traditional Colombian genres—such as cumbia, vallenato, and salsa—with experimental, electronic, and avant-garde approaches. Known for their theatrical and futuristic style, MERIDIAN BROTHERS reimagine Latin American musical traditions through a playful, postmodern lens.
