Learn the basics of working in the Technocopia Metal Shop with this 101 training.About this Event
This class is an introduction to the metal shop at Technocopia. Students will complete a basic project, while learning to understand project plans, and the safe usage of core measuring and fabrication tools for working with metal.
Tools covered in this class include:
- Angle grinder
- Metal Chop Saw
- Drill press
- Hand Files
- Measuring Tapes
- Punches
- Hammers
- Marking tools
Additional Information
- No experience necessary for this class.
- Participants should bring close-toed shoes (work shoes are preferred, and non-synthetic materials preferred), ensure that the laces are not frayed. Wear clothes that are sturdy and flame-resistant (e.g. denim, cotton). Synthetic fibers (e.g. polyester) pose a personal hazard in the welding shop environment. Jeans and long sleeved shirt would be appropriate. Ensure that your clothing does not have frayed edges (e.g. around the cuffs of your pants).
- Successful completion of this course will result in certification of Technocopia members to independently use the tools directly covered in the course.
- This class is only available to students ages 18 or over.
