While many know this masterpiece from Christmas performances, Handel actually composed it for the Easter season, creating a powerful musical narrative that traces the story from prophecy through Christ's death, Resurrection, and Ascension.
Join us for this unique, part-sing-along and part-performance during the Lenten season. Throughout the afternoon, the Chamber Choir will present select choruses on their own, showcasing the work's intricate beauty, while also serving as section leaders to guide singers of all experience levels through the community sing-along choruses of this sacred masterpiece. Columbia Chorale's newly appointed conductors lead the assembled forces, with Chamber Choir's capable voices providing a strong foundation for community singers to build upon. The afternoon features outstanding soloists within the ensemble performing the arias and recitatives, accompanied by harpsichord and string ensemble.
