About this Event
Contributions towards rethinking the ESOL curriculum
The MESH team is delighted to invite you to our summer Regional Networking event. Please join us for a morning of stimulating discussion and networking opportunities focused on migrant learners and ESOL delivery in Yorkshire and Humber.
There is broad agreement that a new approach is needed to the delivery of adult ESOL in England. The Department for Education is making moves towards replacing the Skills for Life curriculum, which is now more than 20 years old, and the Bell Foundation has very recently published its qualification and curriculum review in response. In this session, we will consider new ways of thinking and explore some new approaches to the delivery of learning in the ESOL classroom. The session will foreground participatory learning, reflective practice and other ways of creating new opportunities in the classroom and beyond.
Please join us to discuss ESOL practice and engage with ideas about how we deliver learning across the sector in our region. We are excited to be holding our second networking event of the year in South Yorkshire, at the Central Library in Sheffield. The Library is easily accessible from Sheffield Station, so we do hope to welcome colleagues from across the region. The session is free, including refreshments and lunch.
The meeting will take place in the Carpenter Room at Sheffield Central Library.
