The Mentors of Pre-Service Teachers Program is a professional learning seminar designed for experienced mentors or teachers new to mentoring pre-service teachers.The program has been developed in partnership with Victorian universities and initial teacher education (ITE) providers to ensure the program meets the needs of both mentors and pre-service teachers.
All registered teachers are eligible to attend, including early childhood teachers and teachers working in government, Catholic and independent schools.
The seminar will cover
- skills for effective mentoring
- relationship building and growth-focused conversations
- professional needs of pre-service teachers
- understanding the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) at the graduate level
- placement check-ins and the Professional Experience Report
- what to do when it isn’t working.
