The holiday season can be a difficult time for people living with a mental health diagnosis. Join us as we show them that the community is here to to support them, and they are not alone!Partnering with San Angelo Clubhouse, we will have speakers talking about their struggles and resources to help in our community. NAMI Texas Executive Director Greg Hensch will be here to speak about mental health in this year's legislature.
We will also be announcing this year's Laura Lewis Community Mental Health Champion Award. Laura Lewis was a member of NAMI San Angelo, also served on the San Angelo Clubhouse Advisory Council, and was an overall huge mental health advocate, passed away in 2023. The award was created that year to honor her memory and the work she did in mental health, and to honor people in the community who share that same spirit.
The event will end with planting green pinwheels on the courthouse lawn, to promote mental health awareness during the month of December.
