About this Event
This two day in-person training is only eligible to CHP Alumni and Community PEERS, will take place on Thursday, May 30th and Friday, May 31st 2024, Toronto City Hall, from 9am-5pm on both days. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided, please bring your own water bottle.
The training certificate which you will after completion of both days of training, is good for two years.
The training will take place in Committee Room #4, on the second floor. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier to go through the security section.
Please only register for this training if you will be able to attend both days in-person, this training is worth $250 and we are offering it at no cost to CHP Alumni and Community PEERS to ensure that you have some additional skills to support your employability and marketability.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis, also from a decolonized lens.
International evaluations and feedback have found the following outcomes for participants undertaking an MHFA course:
- Increased awareness of signs and symptoms of the most common mental health problems
- Decreased stigma related to mental health
- Increased confidence interacting with individuals experiencing a mental health problem or crisis
- Increased help actually provided to individuals in crisis or experiencing a mental health problem
