Menopause Below The Belt: Why your pelvic floor matters

You’ve made it through hot flashes.
You’ve wrestled with mid-life weight gain.

Join Leona Ham, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, for the third talk in our Great Pause series — a candid, informative, and surprisingly empowering conversation about pelvic health during midlife.

And now… it’s time to talk about what’s happening below the belt.

Pelvic Floor, Bladder Leaks & the Things No One Warned You About

Because somewhere between perimenopause and menopause, many women quietly start wondering:

  • Why do I suddenly have to pee all the time?
  • Why does running, laughing, or sneezing feel risky?
  • Why does sex feel different than it used to?
  • Is this just part of getting older?

Here’s the truth: it’s common — but it’s not something you just have to live with.

Your pelvic floor is one of the most important (and most ignored) muscle groups in your body. Hormonal shifts, aging tissues, childbirth history, and lifestyle factors can all affect how it functions — impacting bladder control, core stability, sexual comfort, and even back pain.

And yet… no one really talks about it.

Until now.

We’ll cover:

Why pelvic floor changes happen in perimenopause & menopause
What bladder leaks are really telling you
Why Kegels aren’t always the full answer
The surprising link between your core, hips, and pelvic floor
What actually works to restore strength and confidence
When to seek help (and what treatments are available)

Expect science, practical solutions, and a few (careful) laughs — because if we can’t laugh about sneezing accidents, what can we laugh about?

If you’ve ever crossed your legs when you sneeze…
planned your day around bathroom stops…
or wondered if things “down there” will ever feel normal again…

This talk is for you.

Come learn what’s happening in your body — and what you can do about it.
