Menhir: Monsters, Myths and LegendsAugust 29, 2026
Please join the Shire of Rising Stone for Menhir 2026, an exploration of monsters, myths and legends, and the impact they had on European Culture.
We will be having a full slate of Arts and Sciences classes, and a track of classes designed to help Newcomers join these New Middle Ages. There will also be indoor climate controlled heavy and rapier fighting, and an A&S Regional faire featuring a Stella Nova category. We are planning a Live Weapons activity, site permitting. There will also be a slate of Children’s Activities available.
Maestra Wynalie will be the autocrat for this event, and may be contacted at [email protected]. The site is fully accessible and fully ADA compliant, with plenty of tables and chairs available. Merchants are welcome, please contact Maestra Wynalie for more information.
Mu’illamah Maysun will be providing a sumptuous day board for your enjoyment, and it is limited to 80 people. Dayboard courses will be served beginning at 9:30 am, with a new course every 1 ½ hours through the day with the last course being served a 2:00 pm. A menu will be provided shortly. Classes will be along two tracks: Monsters, Myths, Legends and Newcomer Information. At this point, we have the following classes scheduled. Updates to follow.
• Middle Eastern Monsters with Mistress Maysun
• Valkyries and the Morrigan (a panel discussion) by the Meridien Valkyries
• The Myths of the Apothecary with Lord Oisin
• A Newcomer’s Guide to SCA Combat
• A Newcomer’s Guide to Costume with Countess Ashildr
• A Newcomer’s Guide to Persona with THLady Kalliope
• The ABCs of the SCA for Newcomer’s with Maestra Wynalie
Combat Activities are as follows. Details of the activities will be shared as they are determined.
• Heavy Combat coordinated by Sir Haldr
• Rapier Combat coordinated by Masters Ysabel and Jean-Azriel
• Live Weapons coordinated by Sir Griffin
Mistress Aislinge, the Kingdom A&S Minister will be administering the Regional A&S tournament, along with a Stella Nova competition for a single category. More information will be coming soon. There will be populace choice voting along with the A&S Faire to determine the people’s favorite entry.
Children’s Activities will be presented by Lady Constance and Baroness Bergthora. There will be a two session in the morning, and a two hour session in the afternoon.

Member Adult Daytrip $15
Non-Member Adult Daytrip $25
Youth 17 and under Free
Feast is $15 per person regardless of age.
