While the Holocaust is most commonly associated with Germany and Poland, it was truly an international catastrophe that impacted nations and their Jewish populations in vastly different ways. Join us as Dr. Kyle Ward examines the diverse responses of the Nordic countries—Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland—during the Shoah and how these historical actions continue to shape the national identities and contemporary politics of these countries today.Dr. Kyle Ward serves as the Director of Social Studies Education at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He instructs courses in Social Studies methods, U.S. History, and has a particular focus on World War II and the Holocaust. An accomplished author, he has penned seven books, with his latest focusing on a Norwegian American unit that participated in World War II. Additionally, he is a member of the MNHS Executive Council and the Fort Ticonderoga Education Advisory Team.
