About this Event
With hands-on practice, you’ll learn this simple, but useful patterned stitching technique for patching denim and other woven textiles. This is a great class for beginners and seasoned hand stitchers alike with an interest in how mending can be both functional and beautiful.
This 3-hour workshop includes:
- a presentation of mending materials and how they are used in practice
- a hands-on tutorial to practice and complete a patch, in the sashiko-style embroidery technique.
- an explanation of how to repair specific types of mends (crotch/butt patching, threadbare areas, torn pockets, worn knees)
- an opportunity to ask questions about your specific repair

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Erin Eggenburg is a maker, mender, and author and instructor who resides in Portland, OR. She is the owner of wrenbirdarts, an embroidery and mending supply shop, and author of The Mending Directory.
