About this Event

ABOUT THE PLAY:
After yet another heartbreak, a gay man dives headfirst into Grindr. Inspired by his idol, Lana Del Rey, he simultaneously obsesses over his latest situationship, while trying to hook up his pain away. “Men are Trash and I’m a Raccoon” is an unapologetic examination of the complexity of relationships and (self)love.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

FELIPE LUZ (he/they) is a multi-hyphenate from Southern Brasil – land occupied by the Mbyá Guaraní people before colonization. They are fond of works that exceed labels, push boundaries, and blur the lines between traditional drama/post-dramatic art, fiction/reality, feminine/masculine. They earned their Bachelor of Acting from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and their Acting MFA from Ohio University, where they additionally taught Acting for non-majors. At OU, they were the Co-Artistic Director for Vibrancy Theater, a student company that aims to foster and highlight the work of BIPOC artists. Felipe believes everyone should live their lives as a work of art – "I don’t always get to, but I certainly try!" website / instagram

DAVID H. PARKER (they/them) has almost 10 years in the industry under their belt as an award-winning director, playwright, actor, poet, and cultural worker from Birmingham, AL, a blue island in the US South’s sea of red. Intersectionality informs the base of their work, but the intersection of Blackness and Queerness is always at the top of their priorities. Most recently, David worked on the Broadway transfer of Fat Ham (Geffen Playhouse), Guess Who’s Coming... with Co-Director Zhailon Levingston (Inheritance Theater Project), and as an SDCF Directing Shadow on Hadestown on Broadway. David holds a Master of Fine Arts from UCLA and is the Co-Artistic Director of the Birmingham Black Repertory Theatre Collective. David’s new original work will be produced at The Tank in 2025. Don’t be shy—say hi and keep up with them! website / instagram

ANDRES MARTINEZ (he/she/they) is a Latine Queer Multidisciplinary Artist who leads with intentionality and compassion. They wish to share their spark, in hopes to create a current that lives beyond them. They were a 2021 recipient of the Miranda Family Fellowship, and earned their B.A. in Theatre from King’s College with a concentration on Acting and Technical Theatre. website / instagram
