The Memphis Composers Institute invited composers in the early stages of their orchestral composing careers to submit an original orchestral work for the opportunity to be performed by the Memphis Symphony. This concert features three selected works by emerging composers, alongside the world premiere of Artistic Coordinator D. J. Sparr’s Viola Concerto, performed by Kimberly Sparr and conducted by Kyle Dickson. The performance marks the culmination of a three-day event that includes rehearsals and panel discussions.
