About this Event
Third film of the Festival is The Best Years of Our Lives (dir. William Wyler, 1946). Three traumatized or physically disabled World War II veterans return home to the American Midwest to discover that they and their families have been irreparably changed making readjustment difficult.
The screening will be preceeded by short introduction, putting it in context and highlighting the interesting ways in which it portrays memory. These screenings are part of the interdisciplinary research project 'When Memories Come Alive'.
The screenings will be introduced by Dr Joseph Bitney and Prof Raphael Lyne.
