Join us at the Austin Eagle for a special Memorial Day service of remembrance and community led by our very own Chef; US Navy Petty Officer (Retired) Ramsey Ambrose, as we honor the fallen, recognize the service of veterans, and create space for LGBTQ+ veterans, service members, families, and allies. This event will begin with a formal remembrance service, including a Parade of Colors, the National Anthem, opening remarks, a moment of silence, and a non-religious blessing of remembrance from the Sisters. After the service, guests are invited to stay, connect, share stories, enjoy community, and visit with local veteran and LGBTQ+ resource organizations.
Memorial Day is a time to pause, reflect, and remember those who gave their lives in service. As an LGBTQ+ inclusive community, we also recognize that queer and trans service members have always served, often without visibility, full recognition, or equal treatment. This event is our way of saying: we remember, we honor, and we serve all who served.
