Join the Heard Museum in honoring American Armed Forces service members and their families during a special Memorial Day gathering. The event begins with a flag-raising ceremony to recognize Native veterans who gave their lives in service. Following the flag raising, Kenneth Cozad, Sr. will pay tribute with drum songs for all fallen Veterans. Starting at noon, guests are invited to the storytelling session led by the South Mountain Community College Storytelling Institute. There will also be an open mic for the public to share history, reflections, and teachings connected to service and family. Throughout the day, visitors of all ages are invited to participate in family activities that connect with resilience, creativity, and cultural belonging.
This meaningful program provides an opportunity for reflection, learning, and community togetherness while honoring Native heroes.
