V&A Dundee is Scotland’s premier design museum, offering an inspiring experience within a stunning, award-winning building on the rejuvenated waterfront. Visitors can explore groundbreaking Scottish creativity, international exhibitions, and the permanent Scottish Design Galleries, making it a must-see, "spectacular" destination for culture lovers. During our visit to the V&A Dundee, there are several free attractions within easy walking distance if you would like to explore further. Dundee city centre is compact and mostly flat, making it straightforward to get around on foot. Just a short walk away is The McManus: Dundee’s Art Gallery & Museum, a beautiful Victorian building with free entry featuring art, local history and natural history collections. Along the waterfront, Slessor Gardens offers open green space and views across the River Tay, with a pleasant promenade linking the V&A to the wider city. You may also wish to visit the Desperate Dan Statue on the High Street, celebrating Dundee’s comic heritage, or explore the city’s growing collection of street art and public sculptures. For those keen to walk a little further, the D'Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum at the University of Dundee is also free to enter, though opening times should be checked in advance.
