Encaustic painting is an ancient Egyptian form of painting with melted wax, a medium that dates back centuries. Try your hand at this ancient artform and create anything that your imagination desires. Relax while creating free flowing designs, and let the warm wax guide you through your work. Experiment with paper, old jewelry, glass anything you can think of! Encaustic means “ burned in” so anything that you are using needs to be warm, including the substrate, wax and tools. Once a pattern is done, fuse it all together with a heat gun. If you want to add more color reheat the work and then add the new item and heat again to fuse it all together. Instructor: Donna Housel
