Blending straight-ahead jazz and a taste for hot jazz and prohibition blues, Melody Graves is a unique voice in Meanjin’s jazz scene, with a style that is both fresh and familiar – and if you closed your eyes, you just might think you were listening to an old gramophone record.
Inspired by the early jazz and blues music of New Orleans, big band swing and vocalists to the likes of Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan – Melody Graves is backed by some of Brisbane’s most talented jazz musicians.
