Lindy Morrison and Comrad Xero Come Full Circle

Lindy Morrison and Irena Luckus first worked together in the Brisbane band ZERO in 1978 during the peak of the post-punk explosion, naming themselves after the London-based anarchist / anarcha-feminist newspaper.

Zero’s first gig in the back lane of Wellington Street in Petrie Terrace, Brisbane was shut down by the police. To join Zero, you needed good running shoes.
Zero practised daily and performed frequently before Lindy left the band in late 1980 to join The Go-Betweens. Lindy drummed on the first 6 albums with The Go-Betweens until 1989.

Irena Luckus continued as Xiro/Xero through a variety of changes before the band split in 1983. Irena continued working with many artists and musicians creating a variety of art exhibitions in Brisbane and Sydney and assorted performances, cassettes, books and recordings.
Lindy worked in community music projects across Australia after the Go Betweens split as music director sometimes with large drum ensembles and holding music workshops. She played with Amanda Brown in The Rainy Season and then with Alex the Astronaut. Lindy is now with the SnarskiCircusLindyBand. She was awarded the QMusic Lifetime achievement Award in 2023.

Lindy has recently returned from London where she recorded and toured with 2 UK bands.
Irena relocated to Tasmania in 2010 playing live solo shows as Comrad Xero across the eastern capitals, blending her distinctive voice through a mesh of synth-based sounds both programmed and played live.

Lindy Morrison and Irena Luckus continue their spirit of rebellion together through art and music in 2023 touching on all that came before while looking bravely into the future.
