DOCUMETARY SCREENING: Love is Listening: Dementia without Loneliness
Love is Listening, created by Michael Verde, is a breakthrough approach to dementia care. Verde, a leading authority on dementia, addresses the societal "dis-ease" towards those living with dementia. A recent US survey showed 95% of people believe those with dementia feel misunderstood and lonely, and 62% are unsure how to interact with them. Additionally, 80% of communities report unease around those with dementia.
Verde's approach aims to heal the emotional isolation that causes loneliness, anxiety, and depression among those with dementia. Love is Listening reduces societal uneasiness and uncertainty, restoring a sense of purpose, belonging, and love.
The documentary Love Is Listening: Dementia Without Loneliness offers an inspiring portrait of person-centered care, vividly illustrating what it means to support the personhood of people with dementia-related cognitive impairments. This initiative will impact everyone in the community who seeks to restore dignity and purpose for those with dementia.
To launch this revolution, Living Wisdom Center is proud to host the premiere of the documentary film, Love is Listening: Dementia Without Loneliness, created by Michael Verde. After experiencing the film and hearing from Michael Verde and Debbie Carriveau, Executive Director of the Living Wisdom Center, you will view people living with dementia through a new lens and gain hope for their futures.
