Come for a walking tour of some of Melbourne’s great laneways, followed by lunch at Denmark House. Join us for both, or just for one.We’ll meet at the corner of Flinders & Degraves Street before ducking down to the newly restored Campbell Arcade, recently re-opened after its closure to facilitate the underground pedestrian connection between Town Hall and Flinders Street Station.
Then we’ll head back above ground for well known Melbourne highlights like Degraves Street, Manchester Lane and Block Arcade as well as the lesser known places like Cathedral Arcade, Whitehart Lane, and Driver Lane. Along the way we’ll take a coffee and morning tea break and finish up around 12:15 for those who want to head off.
For lunch, we’ll head to a small part of Denmark in the heart of Melbourne. A hidden gem that you wouldn’t know about, unless you know about it.
Choose between one of their three mains ($29-$44), or go for their specialty, ‘smørrebrød’. Also known as Danish Open Sandwiches. There’s a choice of over 20 smørrebrød, including traditional Danish fish flavours, vegetarian or meat ($9.50-$12.50 each). If you can’t decide, go for their Feed Me Danish option of 5 pre-selected smørrebrød ($49).
If you’re still hungry, they have a wonderful selection of deserts, including freshly made Danish Pastries.
All visitors to Denmark House will need to sign in before lunch.
GETTING THERE: You can drive into the city and park in one of the many multi-storey parking lots, or jump on a train with our starting point right across the street from Flinders Street Station. If you take the train, you can also partake in some Danish Schnapps.
BRING: A good pair of walking shoes & a big appetite.
PETS: No pets permitted in any venues.
SUITS: All vehicle types including classics.
