MEHFIL CLUB NIGHT: The Return of the Sufi Dub Brothers

The Sufi Dub Brothers – they are back. During the last few years, Ashraf Sharif Khan & Viktor Marek have developed their creative partnership, based on the sheer strength of their incredibly entertaining live sets and their album “Sufi Dub Brothers”. Long gone are the suspicions of their approach of combining sitar and samplers as esoteric. With their earthy sense of humour and outstanding musical qualities, the stellar duo of hearts from the Waterkant are helping to establish their home of Hamburg as a new centre of European Asian-Pop fusion.
The time is ripe for “The Return of The Sufi Dub Brothers”: With a title equally giving a nod to the late Lee Scratch Perry and superhero franchises, this new offering has been released by Fun In The Church on November 26, 2025.
Sufi Dub Brothers – are back! 👊👊
Meet the performers:
Ashraf Sharif Khan
The unmatched sitar virtuoso is regarded as a “national treasure” in Pakistan, yet preferring a quiet life in a suburb of Hamburg. He is the son and disciple of Pakistan’s legendary sitar maestro, the late Ustad Muhammad Sharif Khan Poonchwale, and hails from the illustrious Poonch Gharana of classical sitar playing. The past two decades has seen Ashraf represent Pakistan as a cultural ambassador at international music festivals abroad, transcending regional boundaries and winning adulation for music from his country of origin.
Viktor Marek
The globe-trotting producer, sampling wizard and DJ Marek is the CEO of St. Pauli’s notorious Golden Pudel Club, and owns homes in Sicily and in Burkina Faso. He is known for his involvement in projects like The Kings of Dubrock, 8 Doogymoto, and, more recently, for his production work for West African artists such a Patrick Kabré, and the Les Soeurs Doga.
