About this Event
Check out the season premiere of our Theatre series "Meet the Playwright". The series features semi-staged readings of new works by BIIPOC playwrights, plus Q&As with creative teams.
At this event, we'll present A Step- By- Step Guide On How To Succeed In the Myth Making Business by Amalia Oliva Rojas.
Synopsis: River, an emerging playwright, has for several years received rejections from theaters and agents, in a moment of desperation she decides to steal her mother’s work to reach success. After a fallout between them, River commits suicide and proceeds to a liminal space where history and values will demand she choose how she wishes to be remembered. Is she willing to demystify the truth surrounding the success of the greats present in her judgment or will she cling to the legacy she has always wanted? This play is about familiar love and what we leave behind in the name of it.
