Vernon T Bateman Bio:

Mr. Vernon T Bateman - Author, Illustrator, Artist, Father, Brother and Son. Founder of: www.baby22gunsafetyllc.com www.Vernontbateman.com to name a few.

Vernon T Bateman is a self-taught artivist–an artist and an activist fighting to save our youth through programs and curriculums to Stop Gun violence through Morales, and Character Building Solutions through his Children Books and One of a kind Paintings. –based in Indiana. Bateman's primary media is acrylic, and his paintings have been exhibited at the Bottleworks District, Dream Palace Books & Coffee, The District Theatre, and Tomorrow Bookstore, among other venues. While his works are in several private collections, most of his pieces are philanthropic, gifts to the community that are also gifts to Bateman, who says he is "grateful for the opportunity to help others."

Bateman is also a prolific illustrator and writer, who published five children's books since 2012, all of which address pressing issues facing youth today. From They Can't Hurt Me No More, a 2012 book dealing with anti-LGBTQ bullying, to If Bullets Could Cry, his 2021 book about gun violence that sparked his ongoing public advocacy campaign, Baby22GunSafetyLLC.

As a young child, born and raised in Gary, Indiana; Bateman was introduced to the world of art through his his grandfather, Bill Franklyn, whom Bateman watched as he painted, framed, and wrote poetry. Bateman insists everybody is an artist and believes that "art is what the eye's can't see but what you can feel." He approaches everything–from a bodily gesture to a lecture–as art. "I am even a student of my own art," he says. His desire is for people to engage his works, relate to them, take away both what they say about our society and, more importantly, about what our society can be.
