Praise for “Riding Rainbows through the Storms”
Author Anne Spry highlights life lessons she learned by journaling through one of the most challenging storms of her life–the Covid pandemic. A narrative of journal entries, blogs, Facebook posts, and prayers full of humor, pathos, physical and mental pain, and ultimately, transformation.
“For many of us, the pandemic was a mixed blessing. We lost so many things, even if temporarily. Like a lot of people, Anne talks of gaining something too; a closer relationship with God.–Debbie Liddel, pastor
“Every page, every musing, every observation she makes is common to us all. May God bless her for having the foresight, courage and tenacity to capture what the rest of us barely managed to endure.–Cheri Battrick, Author
“A deeply moving and tender personal story.”–Ruth Maus, Author
Praise for “Taking the Long Way Home”
The true story of a young American couple’s transformative journey to Northeast Brazil — a region still reeling from a failed revolution. There, amid intense heat, poverty, and beauty, they built a school, launched grassroots projects, and became immersed in a world both foreign and deeply human. The author now reflects on the lessons Brazil taught her: about finding a home within your own heart.
“Anne Spry is now much richer in spirit and knowledge of life from her time in Brazil. And so is anyone who reads this book.–Dr. Walt Menninger, Former President and CEO, The Menninger Clinic.
“Anne Spry vividly captures the tensions of a Peace Corps Volunteer navigating rural Brazilian life in the early 1970s in the service of community development. She clearly chronicles the language and personal agendas, accommodating both goverment and religious priorities, persevering through setbacks and misunderstandings and more.–Ken Weaver, professor emeritus of psychology, Emporia State University
The author takes you through the twists and turns of the Civil Rights/Vietnam era that polarized the U.S. in the 1960s and 70s. This book is about joyful hellos and tearful goodbyes, about relationships and about finding yourself while losing yourself in your work.–Dennis Cox, Author and former newspaper editor
“Living on Laughter”
In this heartwarming and hilarious memoir, former humor columnist and newspaper publisher Anne Spry shares decades of personal columns that shine a humorous light on the everyday struggles and joys of parenting, aging, home repair gone wrong, and life with a city-boy-turned-country-husband.
