We are thrilled to welcome Karen Campbell Wilkinson for a special meet-and-greet and book signing at Books on Third!
Karen Campbell Wilkinson is the author of On Borrowed Breath. A graduate of The Ohio State University, Karen worked for 15 years as a respiratory therapist at Level One Trauma Centers, gaining firsthand experience with organ procurement, transplantation, and emergent life-and-death decisions. She now resides in Naples, Florida, with her husband of 30 years, Dr. David Wilkinson, their two sons, and their rescue dogs. After retiring from healthcare, Karen transitioned into real estate, helping clients buy and sell homes and establish medical practices in the Sunshine State.
About the Book: On Borrowed Breath
What do you do when the love of your life is hanging by a thread?
When tragedy struck, Karen found herself in a public and private battle for her husband’s life and career. Diagnosed with COVID-19, her husband, Dr. David Wilkinson—an otherwise healthy 50-year-old surgeon—was suddenly fighting for his life. Placed on life support and given almost no chance of recovery, Karen refused to give up when the odds were stacked against him.
Relying on her faith and the prayers of friends, she faced impossible decisions: Should she withdraw life support, or fight for her husband’s slim chance of survival through a double lung transplant?
