Alex Calvo wants to be number one, and this goal comes before anything else. She needs a full scholarship if she plans to attend a university and support her family. As her match losses pile up and her tennis ranking falls, the college coaches walk away. About Janelle Gabay: Janelle is a local author living in St Pete Beach, FL. In 2020, she won the Florida Book Awards Silver Medal for her young adult contemporary Dog Girl written under the pen name Gabi Justice. She is an award-winning author of YA paranormal romance novels. As the mom of three competitive tennis players, she spent fifteen years entrenched in the world of USTA junior tennis. They traveled nationally and internationally to compete in the sport they loved. This experience went into the research for The Players We Were.
