About this Event
The evening will open with Ali R Taha, presenting songs from Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria, intertwining Arabic melodies with a modern touch.He will be joined on stage by Raed El Khazen, a Lebanese guitar virtuoso living in Slovenia. The recognizable maqam melos will then give way to the rhythms of rap, electronics, and funk performed by the duo Sahareya, a brother-and-sister tandem with roots in Syria and Croatia. The stage will also feature El Henry, a rapper from Gaza, who will share the pulse of the brutal reality in Palestine through his personal and intimate verses.
We place this event also within the broader context of the Middle East and the struggle for peace and justice for Palestine.
The concert is organized by Zavod Proja in cooperation with Zavod Apis and the Kazina Jazz Club, with the financial support of Anna Lindh Foundation.
