Join us for a brand new event! Step inside the Shiras Planetarium for an intimate evening of live music, movement, and immersive visuals.
Musicians from Northern Michigan University’s Open Mind Ensemble, led by saxophonist Patrick Booth, will create an ambient soundscape using bells, chimes, percussion, and saxophone. Dancers from TaMaMa Dance Company will respond through movement while the Shiras Planetarium team generates live visuals across the dome, evolving in real time with the performance.
Audience members will be seated in a circle around the performers, creating a shared space where sound, motion, and imagery surround you from every direction. Because the music, movement, and visuals develop together in the moment, this experience will be unique and unrepeatable.
This performance is designed to be calm, reflective, and immersive, rather than a traditional concert. The performance will be acoustic.
Seating is limited to 35 participants. Cell phone use is not permitted during the event. Photo opportunities will be offered after the performance. This performance is intended for a mature audience who can remain seated for a 60 minute performance.
