Breathwork is the continual use of a specific breath pattern in order to shift our internal state. This modality has the power to regulate/train our nervous system and drop us into our subconscious and help us resolve ongoing patterns and beliefs that prevent us from living out our fullest potential.In this experience, participants can expect to:
- learn about breathwork as a self-healing modality
- the benefits
- various different breath patterns
- journaling
- share and integrate the experience with others in the group
Breathwork can result in intense physical sensation and emotional release. Therefore, it is not advised for persons who are currently pregnant or experiencing certain health concerns. Please consult a healthcare professional if you have a history of cardiovascular disease, including angina or heart attack, high blood pressure, glaucoma, retinal detachment, osteoporosis, significant recent physical injuries or surgery.
Plan to refrain from consuming too much food or liquids about an hour before the workshop begins. Bring water with you and wear comfortable clothing/layers.
Joy Liu is a Sneads Ferry-based, trauma-informed breathwork facilitator, yoga teacher, and personal finance coach. She completed her 200-hour certification with Wilmington Yoga Center in 2022 after being a yoga practitioner for most of her life. She then went on to become a trauma-informed breathwork facilitator with Pause Breathwork in 2023. Joy is passionate about spreading the many benefits and dispelling myths about yoga that makes it feel inaccessible for all people. Yoga is so much more than the physical postures and Joy’s mission is to make it available to everyone. Joy teaches pop-up classes around the Coastal NC region for all levels of practitioners to take care of their physical bodies, quiet the mind, and connect with their souls.
