Sitting in stillness for meditation can make all the difference if your body is aligned and comfortable and your breath flows effortlessly out and in. From a yogic perspective the neti pot opens the nasal passages and is the gateway to the mind for meditation. While breathing practices (pranayama) allows for focus during meditation. However, if you struggle and are not comfortable either with your breath or sitting making a few easy adjustments can make the difference.
When the body is comfortable and stable and the breath flows freely at the nostrils, the mind can flow peacefully inward. In this month’s Mind-Body Series learn the importance of the neti pot, relaxation, refining your posture and breath to increase the length and quality of your meditative practice. Move through an exploration of sitting styles, a sequence of supportive asanas, and techniques of yogic breathing. Then tie it all together with a guided meditation, and experience the difference. Taught in the Himalayan tradition. No experience required.
