About this Event
In this comprehensive course we will dive deep into how to make potent herbal medicine.We will learn how to take herbs from the farm, field, or marketplace and properly extract them into effective medicines.Using a mixture of lecture, demonstration, hands-on experiences and monthly homework assignments we will learn, explore, and perfect our medicine making knowledge, techniques, and skills.We will learn about extraction techniques, solvents, herbs, and what is happening as they all interact. We will cover tinctures, glycerites, oils, vinegars, honeys, poultices, and much more. We will discuss how to approach what we are doing by exploring both the physical and spiritual aspects, the importance of being in right relation, and why it all matters.Each class will build on the knowledge of the class before it.Join us one Saturday a month as we take this fun and solid journey together making high quality herbal medicines.This course is appropriate for both beginning and intermediate students.Class runs from 10:00am – 4:00pm
Class 1: April 20th: Harvesting, Drying & Storing Herbs, Begin Discussion of Solvents: Alcohol
Class 2 : June 8th: Continue Solvents: Glycerine, Vegetable Oil
Class 3 June 15th: What to Do With Infused Oils: Salves, Medicated Creams, Suppositories
Class 4: July 13: Using Other Solvents: Vinegar, Distilled Witch Hazel, Honey, Wine
Class 5: August 3: Topical Medicines: Poultices, Compresses, Fomentations, Cataplasms, Herbal Food
