The Essentials of Live and Touring Management is a course that will give a full and honest insight into all elements needed to successfully tour your artists locally, nationally and internationally. This is an in-person training course delivered by Ray Paul (The Play Maker Group) and looks at what managers need to know to launch their acts live-career. As navigating the live industry can be confusing and messy, it is essential that managers are equipped with knowledge and information to tackle the hurdles of the live sector.
Ray Paul’s career has seen him work for the BBC for over 20 years before founding his company, THE PLAYMAKER GROUP. While at the BBC, he worked for many radio stations, most notably running BBC London from 1997-2001. In 2001 he was asked to be part of the initial set up team that started a new digital radio station, 1Xtra. He held the position of Executive Producer of Specialist Music & Live Events for 7 years before moving to BBC Radio 1 and being Head of Weekends in 2009. Winning numerous awards and pioneering many special projects and events, Ray Paul’s name has taken on legendary status within broadcasting and black music circles
The Mechanics Of Music Management
The Mechanics Of Music Management is a training programme from the MMF delivered by CMU Insights and led by Chris Cooke. Chris writes, talks, teaches and consults about the music industry. Mechanics is a series of six units exploring best practices and current trends in artist management, together these sessions provide a comprehensive guide to artist revenue streams and business models, music rights and record deals, music publishing, fanbase building and direct-to-fan relationships, and explain where the manager fits in with each of these strands of the business. Every week of this training programme, the MMF invite music professionals, including accountants from Prager Metis and lawyers from Lee and Thompson to share practical insights on the day-to-day elements of music management.
