About this Event
The 70s, 80s, and 90s: Three decades that defined individuality and cultural expression. Through it all, the songs of those time period have left an undeniable mark on society and in our every day lives, becoming a part of our routines in the present and undoubtedly... the future. On April 12th, Thomas Claxton’s “Me, Myself, & Us” Concert Series takes a trip back in time, welcoming Special Guests: Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, Neil Jason, and Lyle Workman, three performing artists that helped shape the music that we all know and love.
Credited on over 4,000 ALBUMS that have sold MILLIONS of copies (and counting), Bernard "Pretty" Purdie has literally done it all. The only drummer in history to have a rhythm named after him, Bernard (the Founder of the famed "Pudie Shuffle"), has gifted his signature sound to the likes of such iconic bands as: Steely Dan, Hall & Oates, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Louis Armstrong, and too many others to list. Bernard's influence can be felt and heard throughout modern music and arguably Rock, Pop, and R&B wouldn't be the same without it. The "Me, Myself & Us" Concert Series is honored to welcome Bernard "Pretty" Purdie to our stage to share the stories and a taste of some of the legendary songs he left his mark on.
Neil Jason (BASS): Bass Guitarist, Composer, Producer, Songwriter... Neil Jason made his mark in the annals of musical time by providing his style of bass guitar to such greats as John Lennon, Cyndi Lauper, Roxy Music, KISS, Paul Simon, Mick Jagger, and MANY others. Neil's acclaimed style ranging from Rock and Pop to Funk and Jazz, can be forever enjoyed on iconic songs such as "Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun", "Money Changes Everything", and such albums as John Lennon's "Milk and Honey" and Roxy Music's "Avalon". This marks the first appearance of Neil Jason to Savannah's most unique Concert Experience and the Series looks forward to welcoming him to our stage!
Guitarist and Composer, Lyle Workman took his professional music career by the horns when the late 1980's came along, first appearing on the map on the Bourgeois Tagg album. From there, Workman became a go-to performer, working with such marquee names as Frank Black, Todd Rundgren, Jellyfish, and many others. From a career that saw him touring with Sting, the composer of such movie soundtracks as "Superbad", "The 40 Year Old Virgin", "Yes Man", and so much more, the MMU Concert Series is looking forward to bringing Lyle Workman to the "Hostess City of the South".
We're beyond proud to welcome these celebrated artists to this Concert Series event and look forward to sharing the evening with you all! You never know what surprises may be in store for this amazing night…
