A two day workshop about bringing your imagination to life through precise movement, and finding the funny in physicality. The Latebloomers are masters of physical comedy and the workshop will have a particular focus on mime as a technique for humour - with its long history from on-stage vaudeville acts to big screen greats. Inspired by the teachings of French mime and theatre practitioner Jacques Lecoq, at whose school the Latebloomers trained, the workshop will cover he principles of mime, before moving onto finding comedy through mime, using The Latebloomers signature style of vocal sound effects and slapstick comedy, and finally, creating a coherent world onstage with your fellow performers.
While this workshop is best suited to people with performance experience, we are open to anyone joining in. No prior experience of mime is necessary.
Taught by award winning comedian and theatre-makers THE LATEBLOOMERS - Jon Tilley (UK), Sam Dugmore (AU), and Arthur Dumas (FRANCE)
The Latebloomers is an international physical comedy troupe based in the UK. Drawing on their training in clown, mime, and physical theatre at the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School in Paris, the company created the acclaimed shows 'Scotland!' and 'The Bakers', which they continue to tour around the world.
