M.D.C - MILLIONS OF DEAD COPS (Anarcho Punk / Texas U.S.)
When M.D.C was founded in Austin in 1979, they initially called themselves The Stains and played their first concert under this name in their hometown in April 1980. At the time, they were one of the first hardcore punk bands in the city. In 1981, they released their first single independently. When the band moved to San Francisco in 1982 (where, unlike Austin, there was a very lively music scene), they renamed themselves MDC. In the USA, the abbreviation MDC is particularly well known for the Metropolitan Detention Centre, a series of local detention centres where mainly remand prisoners are held. Dave Dictor, the creative mind behind MDC, stands for decades of uncompromising anarcho-punk right in your face! An important piece of punk history is making a stop in Graz!

BARACKCA (Hardcore Punk / Budapest HUN)
The band Barackca has been founded in October 1993. We had our first common rehearsals in the “Teleki Blanka technical college of economics” in Budapest. To form a band was the idea of János and Krisztán Huszár. They were joined by Zoli Kollár and Zoli Sziráki, furthermore by the first concert, Vili Virág and Andris Béres completed the band. By then, the style of music was still not clear but the desire for playing music bonded us together. Not much later, Miklós Kollár joined as guitarist. The first name of the band, “Barakk Rock”, was given after a barrack building on the school grounds. We rehearsed there until it got teared down. Thus, there was a demand for a name change, so, by nicknaming the building, the new name, “Barackca”, came to life which we write this bizarre way.We initiated the process of writing our own songs relatively soon. While the music and the lyrics were written mainly by János and Krisztián, following their taste, the band started to become a punk rock band. We began to give concerts with the songs which we completed during the first year and a half. In February of 1995, we searched for a studio where we recorded the album titled “Eine Kleine Punk Musik” within 24 hours.

FLOWERS IN CONCRETE (Hardcore Punk / Weiz AT)
What does this scene thrive on, if not passion? Passion is what drives these three middle-aged gentlemen, who, after a 15-year hiatus, strapped on their instruments again in 2018 to bring their melodic version of hardcore punk back to the stages of the Alpine republic. Following the split 7" with Hella Comet (2018) and the split LP with Vienna's Dim Prospects in 2020, here are two new, typically political tracks from Flowers in Concrete – once again pressed on vinyl (and available on all digital platforms). Choral singing, melodic vocals and screaming alternate with groovy parts and genre-typical thrashing. ‘Old friendship turns to pain. Separate paths instead of closeness,’ goes the chorus of ‘Propaganda’. A sentence that probably applies to most of us in recent years. A situation that almost all of us have experienced. As always with Flowers in Concrete, the band tackles current affairs, social criticism and personal issues. What they see is packaged in catchy slogans. Sing-along factor guaranteed.
