Come join us for the second workshop in our signature series - Foundations in Maker-Centered Learning - where participants will experience Agency by Design Oakland’s special sauce that combines research-backed frameworks from both MCL and CRT (Culturally Responsive Teaching) increasing student engagement and deepening content knowledge.
Are you maker curious? Whether you’re a seasoned educator or new to the profession, this workshop has beneficial tools & strategies for all levels.
This interactive workshop invites educators of all levels to explore and implement Maker-Centered Learning through the use of thinking routines that foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Whether you are new to maker education or have experience integrating hands-on projects into your curriculum, this session will provide practical strategies, tools, and resources to help you facilitate engaging learning experiences.
In this highly interactive two hour session, you will:
- Use several thinking routines that support agency, curiosity and systems-thinking
- Engage in hands-on activities that model how thinking routines can be incorporated into various academic areas
- Learn how to adapt these routines to different age groups and content areas, making them applicable to your unique teaching context
By the end of the session, you’ll have a toolkit of thinking routines and strategies you can immediately implement to deepen student engagement, build problem-solving skills, and foster a growth mindset in your classroom.
