The MCA Approved Engine Course 2 (AEC2) provides delegates with theoretical knowledge and practical skills as outlined in the MCA AEC2 syllabus. It is designed to meet the Certificate of Competency (CoC) requirements for the Small Vessel pathway, covering vessels such as yachts, tugs, workboats, and government patrol vessels under 3000 GT and 9000 kW, operating globally.
This course is a stepping stone for those entering the industry as junior or assistant engineers and progressing towards the Small Vessel Second Engineer Officer qualification.
When paired with AEC1, this course can contribute to the MCA Marine Engine Operators License (MEOL), required for Chief Engineers on UK-flagged vessels under 750 kW operating within 150 miles of shore.
