About this Event
The MCA is delighted to announce its 2024 Symposium on Alcohol-related Health Harm.
This is a key event for health professionals working to reduce alcohol-related health harms and will take place in-person at the RCP in London with all the networking and communication advantages offered at this wonderful venue. We aim our programme at clinicians and researchers across disciplines and specialties, highlighting both new research and policy and practical applications.
The Max Glatt memorial lecture will be given by Dr Lorenzo Leggio, a physician-scientist whose illustrious clinical and research career has been focused on the treatment of alcohol and substance use disorders and on the medical consequences of alcohol use disorder, especially alcohol-associated liver and cardiovascular diseases. Lorenzo Leggio also has a special relationship with the MCA as joint Editor-in-Chief of our journal, Alcohol and Alcoholism.
A further particular theme this year will be the stigma associated with alcohol use disorders in all its ramifications, which we know impacts negatively on the way patients are perceived and treated.
We will also have sessions on the latest clinical and policy developments in the alcohol and health harm field, of key relevance to practicing health professionals. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussions and the entire event will be filmed and subsequently available for delegates to view. Do take advantage of the early bird offer and book your place now.
