About this Event
As part of Refugee Week, join us for a guided walk through the streets of Bath exploring the city’s long and often overlooked history of welcoming refugees across the centuries.
Led by the Mayor’s Guide, this walk will trace stories of people who sought sanctuary in Bath, from the Huguenots who arrived in the late 17th century and the French émigrés who followed a century later, to Belgian and Jewish refugees during the First and Second World Wars. The tour will also reflect on more recent communities from Syria, Ukraine and Afghanistan, who have fled conflict and now call Bath home.
Through places, stories and shared history, the walk invites us to reflect on the many ways migration has shaped the city and the ongoing importance of welcome, solidarity and belonging.
Meeting point: Outside Bath Abbey
Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours
Capacity: Maximum 25 participants
Registration: Advance booking is required as spaces are limited.
