This week's Mayfair Organ Concert is given by Lionel Steuart Fotheringham (Dundee), who will be performing the following works:

Lionel Steuart Fothringham gained an honours degree in Music from the University of Cambridge in 1995, where he was also Organ Scholar of St Catharine's College. Whilst there, he studied the organ with David Sanger and Peter Hurford. After a year of further studies in organ interpretation and improvisation with Naji Hakim in Paris, he became Organ Scholar at St Paul's Cathedral, London and then at Westminster Cathedral. In September 1998 he moved to Tonbridge School in Kent as Organist-in-Residence and was subsequently appointed Organist and Choirmaster, as well as being a full-time academic teacher in the school’s Music Department. He gained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists in 1999, winning the Harding and Durrant prizes. In September 2007, he became Director of Music at Highgate School in north London, and in August 2012 moved homewards to Scotland to become Director of Music at the High School of Dundee. In 2015 he was awarded a PhD in Musical Composition by King’s College, London. Lionel is also director of the Discovery Bach Choir in Dundee, a group that specialises in the performance of Bach and his seventeenth-century musical forebears.
