Join us on the 26th with Special Guest Jen Cousins, former chair of GLSEN Central Florida. She will share about her experiences with the LGBTQ+ community and her advocacy. GLSEN stands for the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network. Founded in 1990, it is a national organization dedicated to creating safe, inclusive, and affirming K-12 schools for all students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. Their Mission: To end bullying, harassment, and discrimination based on LGBTQ+ identities in schools.
WHAT ARE GATHERINGS? Christ-centered support gatherings welcoming LGBTQ+ individuals, loved ones, and allies from all denominations. Whether you’re exploring how to be a better ally, looking for community, or hoping to share and listen to real experiences, you are welcome here. Together, we celebrate faith, love, and the unique journeys that make each of us
who we are.
HOW IS A GATHERING? We begin with a hymn, followed by a prayer, and then make announcements on events happening in the community. We also feature "Rainbow Connection" (a discussion about the advocacy we have undertaken with the LGBTQ+ community over the last month) and address a topic. Then we let our special guest share their story with us.
Water and light refreshments will be provided. If you would like to bring snacks to share, that would be wonderful.
