May Trenches Full of Poets: In-Store Readings by Three SoCal Poets

Join us on 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵 at 𝟳:𝟬𝟬𝗽𝗺 for our monthly installment of the 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀! May features in-store readings from 𝗚𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘃𝗼 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘇, 𝗣𝗼𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗶𝗼, and 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗹𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗹 followed by an open mic opportunity.
𝗚𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘃𝗼 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘇 is the author of the poetry collections 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘳—a finalist for the 2026 Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry—and 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵. His work has been featured in the 𝘓𝘰𝘴 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘛𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘗𝘰𝘥𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘵, and The Academy of American Poets’ Poem-a-Day series. In January 2024, Hernandez was appointed Poet Laureate of Orange County, California. He was born in Jalisco, Mexico and was raised in Santa Ana, California, where he still resides. 𝗣𝗼𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗶𝗼 is an all-around madman. Follow the madness at @oldirtybeany
𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗹𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗹 was born in Anderson, Indiana and now resides in Long Beach, California. He received a BA in Creative Writing from Arizona State University, an MFA in poetry from Butler University, and a PhD in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Southern California. He is the author of two collections of poetry, 𝘛𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘺 (2017) and 𝘛𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘯𝘬 (2023). His poems and essays can be found in numerous literary journals, magazines, and websites, most recently 𝘗𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘴 and the 𝘓𝘰𝘴 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘰𝘧 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴. He has traveled to Egypt and Eritrea with The University of Iowa's International Writing Program to teach poetry. A recipient of the Dana Gioia Poetry Award and a fellowship from the Borchard Foundation Center on Literary Arts, he is an assistant professor of English at Whittier College and teaches at Spalding University’s low-res MFA program.
Taking its name from a Clash lyric, 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝗲𝘁𝘀 is a monthly poetry series created, curated, and hosted by Los Angeles-based poets and editors, 𝗡𝗶𝗸𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗶 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮 and 𝗠𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗼 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗼 with the goal of supporting a diverse array of published SoCal authors and the local independent bookstores that carry their works.
The event takes place on the second Thursday of every month and is always free and open to the public, no tickets or reservations required!
