As well as our amazing open mic section, the event will also included readings from poets Sarah Holland-Batt and Naomi Cammayo!
Poetry nights are held on the first Wednesday of every month (except January) and have become renowned for their welcoming atmosphere and line-up of well-known poets. Supported by University of Technology Sydney Creative Writing, this event series is hosted by poets and UTS creative writing teachers, Dave Drayton, Sarah Attfield and Anne Casey. Poets at all stages – from absolute beginners to established – are invited (and warmly encouraged!) to sign up for the open mic roster at the venue from 6.30 pm on the night. There will be a limited number of two-minute reading slots available. The event kicks off at 7 pm. All welcome!
Sarah Holland-Batt
Sarah Holland-Batt is an award-winning poet, editor and critic, and Professor and Head of Creative Writing at UTS. Her books have received a number of literary awards, including the Stella Prize for her most recent book, The Jaguar, and the Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry for her second volume, The Hazards. Most recently, her Selected Poems came out in the UK with Bloodaxe Books in 2024.
Naomi Cammayo
Dr Naomi R. Cammayo is a tutor at the University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney and Western Sydney University (City Campus). Her academic endeavours intersect queer feminism and/or decoloniality with literary and/or communication studies. Almost all of her of works remain hidden in her personal computer.
